SpotSee Introduces TempMonitor™: A New Solution for Monitoring Temperature-Sensitive Medications

April 2024

SpotSee, a prominent provider of condition-indicating and monitoring solutions, has recently unveiled TempMonitor™, a novel single-use temperature indicator tailored specifically for individuals dependent on insulin and Glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) medications. This innovative device aims to empower distributors and patients by ensuring that refrigerated medications remain within the prescribed temperature ranges recommended by manufacturers.

Leveraging SpotSee’s renowned WarmMark® technology, TempMonitor employs a straightforward color-changing mechanism to provide visual evidence of exposure to unacceptable temperature levels. When temperatures exceed 30 degrees Celsius (86 degrees Fahrenheit), indicating a potential compromise in product quality, the indicator undergoes a noticeable color change, alerting users to the deviation.

Tony Fonk, President and CEO of SpotSee, emphasized the company's commitment to addressing the critical need for monitoring the storage of temperature-sensitive medications such as insulin and GLP-1s. He acknowledged the challenges faced by patients and their families worldwide and highlighted TempMonitor as a solution to instill peace of mind regarding the proper storage and transportation of vital medications.

TempMonitor offers users discretion and convenience, as it is compact and easy to carry. Packaged in units of 10, these monitors are now available for purchase in the United States and Canada. The indicator window remains white when no evidence of temperature excursions is present. However, if temperatures surpass 30 degrees Celsius within 30 minutes, the indicator changes to red, signaling exposure to higher-than-recommended conditions and providing users with insights into the duration of the exposure.

SpotSee will showcase TempMonitor at LogiPharma 2024, a premier event taking place from April 16 to 18 at the Centre de Congrès de Lyon in Lyon, France, booth #39. Additionally, Tony Fonk will moderate a key panel discussion at the event, focusing on the digital transformation of capabilities to enhance visibility, quality, and responsiveness within the temperature-controlled supply chain. The panel is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, at noon local time.
